My main desire behind becoming an orginser of conscious music gatherings and ecstatic dance DJ
I had very powerful moments in many instances listening to popular music and more often in the genre of trance or classical music. The similarity between the two is definitely the lack of or little speech. Often less is more; this especially applies to pop music. Why? Because the carried message in most songs doesn’t serve you. You listen to the music because it feeds certain aspects of your ego. Your insecurity, the lack of realising your wholeness. So the ego likes to feed the familiar pain because it’s part of it; if there is food for the pain, at least it has a familiar flavour.
But there is a certain genre of music I haven’t heard before a few years ago. It’s not even a single genre based on the traditional classification because it’s very diverse in that sense. What certainly distinctive though is that it moves you deeply in ways you may never have experienced before. The message is different, through the lyrics and the instruments too. A completely different vibration which feels good in every cell of your body and beyond. It opens all aspects of your being so profoundly, it’s pure magic. It makes you extremely excited, feeling alive and at the same time it brings an inner calmness. You realise that you are “stillness in motion”. You experience deep peace while you dance and sing. You feel connected. The music opens your heart, your mind, your body. You realise your true nature, which is life itself.
Have you ever felt so sad that you physically felt it in your heart? Now, this is the opposite.
It’s wonderful that this music is also at our fingertips if we know about its existence at all. The difference is that it doesn’t flood into your face through all the mainstream media. Otherwise it’s all out there with its powerful healing potential and message but many of us don’t even know about it. It’s not surprising though because our limited attention is completely taken up by the stuff we are force-fed with, in other words our mind is hijacked.
And that is what I want to change. I want people to experience what I experience when I listen to these songs and beyond listening to them.
